Rules question

hey guys, my question is this:

If you have a BAB of 5 and a STR bonus of 3, do you get a TAB of 8 or a TAB of 8/3?

I can't find the answer in any of the core books, and both answers seam very well possible. So what's the answer?

Strength bonus does not give you iteratives. Iteratives are purely defined based upon BAB. Check out this link (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatStatistics.htm#attackBonus), specifically where it talks about base attack bonus. Thus, your attacks would just be +8.
