Hey guys, I've a query for you all.

I'm trying to play a summoner, and I'm trying to minmax it to be good at summoning, and basically nothing else.

Feel free to suggest races, but I already have a race picked with LA+1 (flavor reasons, basically).

Here is the build I've thought up so far:
-Wizard 3 (with Conjurer, Focused Specialist, Rapid Summoning, and Enhanced Summoning variants variants)
-Master Specialist 10 (now my summoning spells can be done as swift actions, thanks to Rapid Summoning + Major school Esoterica)
-Thaumaturgist 3 (possible thanks to Arcane Disciple + Summoner Domain). Now I can summon as a swift actions with double duration summons at no spell level increase!
This leaves me with 3 levels (thanks to LA+1), but I am also interested in what could be done with 4 levels.

I'm aware of the Red Wizard, War Weaver, and Archmage as options already, but I noticeda few problems (that I may be too critical on):
Red Wizard is far too Faerun specific (includes circles of mages and Thay)
War Weaver cannot use the tapestry ability on summons (since they weren't there when it was woven)
Archmage is cool, but I didn't like any of the options.

Here's some ideas:
- Incantatrix (Players guide to faerun) might be good if you don't consider it too FR-specific
- Malconvoker (complete mage or c. scoundrel?) is a terrific PrC for a dedicated summoner, though it requires 5 levels for its best class feature (I'd drop the thaumaturgist levels myself)
- mage of the arcane order (C. arcane) could give some additional flexibility, I suppose

- Also consider some of the enhanced specialization options for a specialist conjurer, which are in unearthed arcana: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/specialistWizardVariants.htm

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the last 3 levels of the build, since you probably won't hit them in most games.

I find it interesting that Malconvoker 2 gives me the prereq for Thaumaturgist. But I do also love that fiendish legion ability. I may have to drop Thau for it! This would still leave me with 1 level to play with.

I've already taken two of the Unearthed Arcana variant abilities :P Rapid and Enhanced Summoning.

Three levels of Malconvoker is pretty nice...

True, since it's 1st level ability lets me double summon duration, and when stacked with Thau's ability they would last 4x as long.

Though having the ability to double the amount of creatures I summon is too awesome to pass up.

And I have to ask, does it do what I think it does? If I summon a Colossal Fiendish Spider would I get 2 of them? That just seems silly good! I'd be able to summon them flanking someone, and they'd both attack that turn! Then, thanks to Rapid Summoning + Major Esoterica, I could summon 4 Colossal spiders in a turn!

Fiendish Legion (Ex): Once you attain 5th level, whenever you use a summon monster spell to summon one or more evil-aligned creatures, you summon one extra creature of the same kind.
