...to make a 20 level progression that only has 1 level in any given class? I'm curious to see if such a thing would be viable.

Possible? Sure!
Viable? Not so much.

If you use fractional saves and BAB then you might be able to salvage a character.

There have been a (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268638) few (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14468709#post14468709) other (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14212041#post14212041) threads (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127167) on the subject. Those links include two different caster builds, both of which get 9th level spells.

In general you either take a load of caster PrC's or just take classes that give you +1 BAB so that you can make a decent melee type.

You can also do all right with a bunch of skillmonkey classes, provided you're not counting on being useful in combat. Though most of the really good skillmonkey dips need 2 or 3 levels.

A fighter type can work if you focus.

Feat rogue/ cleric/ spirit lion totem barbarian/ paladin of freedom/ crusader/ ranger/fighter/ duskblade/ bearwarrior/ warshaper/ psywar/ totemist/ incarnum blade/ wilder/warblade/ spellthief/ swordsage/ hexblade/ OA ninja/ generic warrior

Those levels are rearrangable (bear warrior requires 7bab and rage, warshaper requires bear warrior. Starting as a human with able learner is very helpful too.
