I tend to be clean-minded when DMing, but my players have a tendency to find happier beverages when playing, this causes them to laugh at just about everything and I think it's great! I'm wanting to build a campaign that will be fun for all of them and me at the same time, the funnier the idea the better!

Characters were made while sober and they are all level 1 consisting of a:
half-orc monk
human wizard (almost strictly fire spells)
moon elf rogue.

Rules:

All players have maximum health at first level.
No cross-classing skill penalties.
All sources allowed - homebrew is case by case.
Silly's okay, but seriousness is still needed.

To the point: I'm looking for ideas for a campaign that they'd all have fun with - no drinking games, I don't want vomit! - and am having trouble thinking of anything besides Batman jokes. Are there anything you lot have done to entertain a bunch of less-than-there individuals?

I recently ran a pretty fun episode where the players ended up fighting my universe's version of TMNT. The players didn't piece it together until the fight with Splinter.

I played down the turtle angle, but certainly there is room to play it up. It could be great fun had by all.

Ninja turtles are a good idea, thank you  they don't have to be very strong either! Maybe a comic/cartoon from our younger days theme would be a nice way to go

Knowing there are lots of underage kids in this forum, you could probably have asked your question without having to have gone into details as to why your players are being goofy.

Have tiny toons/ loony toons and the like constantly playing throughout the session ( for inspiration ) and keep in places that have plenty of environment hijinks possible. Maybe gestalt a few of the possible things from drunken master prestige class?

Can be surprised as to what can be creatively thought up in a 'unique' mindset.

Yeah, hadn't considered that. I'll modify the thread title and text to be more child appropriate.
Could everybody please go back (if possible) and modify the thread's title in their posts to be more kid-friendly?

Music's a good idea, but they're liable to pay attention to it more than the campaign itself. Any ideas for the drunken master though? I know nothing about it.

Have them fight a Blue half dragon owlbear were-polarbear. He is angry at the wizard for specializing in the insulting element of fire, and the moon elf for his ancestor's mocking his owlbear heritage and the third for guilt by association.

Or maybe a man with a single-target at-will web SLA eminating from his wrists that can be used to swing from, with the whole "imp. Initiative" feat line as a racial trait, including the epic version, with a +5 str, +5 dex and a red and blue full body suit that offers no protection except to allow full dex bonus (maybe a re-fluffed Monk's Belt, with wis to AC)

This might have to be the evil campaign, or if they want the good campaign, maybe make it Venom the BBEG?

Or since Batman jokes seem to be so popular in your group, how about a batman campaign with them fightin batman supervillians? Mr. Freeze (do all the BBEG speeches in Arnold's voice) or the Joker (that one might be much better for a more attentive, sober crowd who loves puzzles), maybe the Penguin, or Poison Ivy? Every guy who plays D&D wants to get down with the pretty girl, why not make it a plot element with poison on her lips? Or maybe some STDs from the Book Of Erotic Fantasy (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Book_of_Erotic_Fantasy)?

Assuming your Players are old enough to get the references (or have watched on TV/DVD), run them through the Library and the Hotel from the original Ghostbusters movie, complete with as many of the lines as you collectively recall.

This is going so far from the 'kid friendly' so fast that its not even funny :smalltongue:

For my suggestions I would second the cartoon idea. Except, expand on that. Make fun of current movies, shows the players watch, etc.
Give them Fate/Force/Plot/Destiny/Luck/Action points. They can spend those to do any kind of ridiculous thing that they want. The more they spend, the more ridiculous it can be (thinking spend them so that throwing the piece of broken window bounces all around the room before finally stabbing the bad guy in the back of the head a round later, or whatever.)

Make liberal use of Monty Python and the Holy Grail references. Make fun of tropes. Brutally massacre the great classics (the king sends them on a quest to kill a noble of the realm, and said nobles son, who is the only one who can defeat the king: macbeth ; They must journey to the volcano of Wannahawkalugi to throw the One Item of Jewelry to Rule Them All! into said volcano to destroy it, etc etc)

Edited to say that Amphyreton's idea is exactly what I was getting at, and is the best idea so far in my opinion. Gods i love that movie!

*snip of a buncha awesome ideas I'm totally gonna use!*

Yes, yes and more yes!
Venom and Spiderman? Methinks I've got a symbiote idea brewin'!
I'm pretty good with an Arnold voice and I'm getting better with Bane and several version's of Joker  I'm not good with lady voices, but poison Ivy'd be awesome.

They've all seen it and are plenty old enough - I'm the youngest at 19, nearly 20 (hence me avoiding the silly juice) - so that sounds pretty fun :smalltongue:

Not kid friendly at all, just terminology that's safer for `em xD

Making fun of movies and shows sounds like a good idea, but how would said point system work?

The ricochet effect sounds pretty fun, I could play some wonky cartoon noise for it

Monty Python mixed in with a bunch of various other movies and such sounds awesome!

It's a great movie, I don't blame ya! :smallwink:

I wouldn't think you'd really have to change much from the usual style dungeon crawl unless your players were really getting blasted, and at that point, I'd be surprised that you could even run a game at all. The ideas here are great, but it really just sounds to me like a casual "Beer and Pretzels" sort of game is the best fit (an aptly named style which I'd say most of the ideas given here fall into).

:smallconfused:

Considering that most D&D games start with the characters getting together over alcoholic beverages, I wouldn't think it'd be inappropriate to discuss people being drunk here.

iirc oriental adventures sword and fist ( people say the better version ) or complete warrior ( the dumbed down version ). The idea was for it to be the improvised weapon monk prestige class as RAI.

*snip*

Games are rather hard to run with them once they're that gone - one of my players fell asleep at the table when we were about to begin (probably a good thing, I hadn't thought up an idea :smalleek:)
As weird as it is, one of them's better with the mathematical portion when they're out of it :S Confuses the bajeebus outta me.
Never heard it called a beer and pretzels game, but that sounds about right xD

There's at least one guy (http://dndwithpornstars.blogspot.com) who routinely games with people under the influence & blogs about it. Hopefully the link wasn't mangled by the filter on this board.

Umm, the basic rules for point systems are like so:

Begin with 5 points.
Gain points for meaningful roleplaying, silly/fun stuff, or whatever.
Spend points equal to what you think should be spent to achieve affect.
Can also spend point for +1d6 to any d20 roll

It works fine, my computer's being a nuisance though :smallannoyed: it takes me to the page but won't open it fully.

Even though I've changed the terms around? I'm trying to be as age-appropriate as possible.

Comical item names. Make sure the item matches the name.

Ex. There are no Braziers of Commanding Fire Elementals only Brassieres of Commanding Fire Elementals.

Simple, funny, but probably unoriginal.

Have a suave and narcissistic gnome engineer who wears a pilotable armor suit/construct run off to fight evil on his own because "teams aren't his style", only for him to realize he bit off way more than he could chew on his own?

Justice League and the Avengers?

Call your team the Z-People (gotta be gender neutral). They all where ridiculousy tight brightly coloured spandex and all have different abilities. Ex. one is a totemist with sphinx claws, one is a stormcaster, one is a blue shadowdancer, one is a doppelganger.

Or, just make a big deal of how these guys are all freaks and weirdos, and are all alone. They fought big evil villains in stupid ways on their own until they could team up with everyone else like them.

Describe one of their fights. Make sure that the city is entirely destroyed by the end of the battle.

And make sure you don't forget the spandex. And the females all have to be really big boobed (unfortunately)

I crafted a monster for the players to hunt down a while ago. The creature's motto was that it landed from the air, roaring an tearing apart anything it catches with its claws. It has the body of an owl, and the head of a polar bear.

I called it Bowl, and it quickly lost all its coolness and dread.
