What can a Ardent/Cognition Theif give to a party?

So fiddling with this a little bit, but would a ardent/cognition thief be stuck in a support-non combat role, or do you seem them being useful in combat besides firing off crossbows all day?

So lets say I do Ardent 3/ Cog Theif 4

Now I looked over possible builds and I fiddled with a few

creation mantel , natural world


and my minor maybe energy mantel ?


Creation = body trappers or distractions

Natural world= seems to be the most stealthy type of mantel


Energy if or when I need to do damage of some sort.


Combined with my 2 options for telepathic powers level two powers, and then another two powers level 5?

So.. Mindlink and crisis of breath

and the last two hmm... meh no real clue
