Since we're starting a new campaign game (with me as player, which is refreshing), a friend has been trying to come up with a mad scientist/engineer thing, and we thought that a Gunslinger/Alchemist might do the job. Someone that can lob bombs at various mobs, but switch to a gun when confronted to something worse.

We're all starting at lvl 3, and this is what I've come up as an idea:

Half-Elf Gunslinger with the Misterious Stranger Archetype (He'll be starting as a gunsmith because of the gun) 1/Alchemist 2

Str 12
Dex 16 (18)
Con 14
Int 15
Wis 13
Cha 14

Feats:
1.- Point Blank Shot
Skill Focus.- Craft (Alchemy)
3.- Precise Shot

If anything, his concept is like a gunslingin' reversed version of Dr Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, in which he drinks elixirs to keep himself from turning from this:

Mysterious stranger might not be the best idea because Charisma is a dump stat for Alchemists.

Might I recommend Explosive Missile (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/alchemist/discoveries/paizo---alchemist-discoveries/explosive-missile) at level 4 and the Grenadier (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/alchemist/archetypes/paizo---alchemist-archetypes/grenadier) archetype?

If you're allowed 3rd party the gunslinger's Mechanist archetype gets you Int based Grit, a damage boost based on K:Engineering, and Trapfinding, all for things you wouldn't get with a 1 level dip anyway.

I'm assuming these stats were rolled? Point buy would tend to be a lot more optimised. But, if you find yourself with a whole buch of 12-14's, why not go a little MAD? Seems like a fun concept. I like it, but will he be the party face?

Oooh, that definitely could work. And Charisma is a dump stat only if you depend on the Str mutagen, the Dex mutagen affects Wisdom, the secondary stat of the typical gunslinger. Mysterious Stranger actually uses Charisma instead of Wisdom for grit.

Sorry, we're only allowed the Standard PF books (if we did, I'd get psionics)

Well, supposedly it's 32-point buy done with the math on this online character maker (http://www.trovetokens.com/pathfinder.html), so I guess there's a chance it could be off. I added the Str score to keep with the armor, mostly. And he'll be the secondary face, I'm the primary (A pally, maybe a Holy Gun, more on that later).
