Energy defence ability MIC

So if i had this ability and i had multiple types of energy resistance lets say i had fire and cold resistance would i get to use each type 3/day? Or would it be 3/day divided anyways i chose between fire or cold or would i have to pick one and only when i take the ability?

By my understanding, synergy abilities require you to select the prerequisite, and then they subsume that prerequisite. Thus, if you had armor with both fire and ice resistance, when you pick energy defense you'd end up with, say, fire defense and cold resistance. After that, if you so choose, you can upgrade ice resistance to cold defense, and you'd get each ability three times a day. Thus, the answer is that you pick the one you want when you take the ability.
