Is it possible to achieve a +35 craft alchemy modifier by level 9? If so how would you do it? If you can do it without spells, or with only 0 level spells thats even better. Assume you get skill focus alchemy for free.

guidance of the avatar and divine insight. those cap at +35 just from them.

2*3*1800 (10800) for on command of one of them (in proper slot and minimum caster lvl) you will likely want cl 10 on divine insight (36000).

46800 gp is possible by lvl 9.

edit: if we assume dc 35 and you average a 45 rolled (a crafting char by lvl 9 would VERY likely be higher), that is 157.5 gold a week. 298 weeks till you are payed off if all you use it for is crafting and it's all of your bonus. The higher your bonus, you regain the cash exponentially quickly. dc 45 and result 45 drops it to 231 weeks. 55 and 55: 155. and so on. lvl 9, a +15 from ranks and stat is reasonable, +50 with items. with that, you would likely set your dc at 55 and average 60 (142 weeks, or nearly 3 years if custom crafting is your full time job [no other income]). I would call it a good investment.

the guidance item could easily be paid off in 53 weeks. and that + the +15 you could have would get you the +35 your after as well.

Ok, basics, ranks at 9th level means +12. Skill focus grants an extra +3, for +15. Stats with a +4 item means another +7 from int mod, bringing us to 22. Gnome gets +2 for 24. A lab gets another +2 for 26.

Cleric 1 with an 18 int gets us the artifice domain for +4 to all craft skills. Then a level of marshal grants +cha to int checks, for another +5 (16, +4 item).

There +35 craft alchemy check using zero spells at level 9.

Hmm I suppose I should have said level 9 alchemist (from splat book)

I can have either 0, and 1st level wizard/sorcerer spells(cast/prepared as a wizard), or 0 level wizard/sorcer spells and a free +2 compentence bonus on alchemy checks by level 9, via this class alone.

competence bonuses are easy to find. A +2? that's 400 gold in slot, 800 gold slotless.

Well, then lets get the artifice domain from Planer Touchstone at 6th level, that removes the cleric level without costing us bonuses.

That +2 then leaves us with 32, and +3 to go due to a lack of Cha to int skills.

A +3 item sounds about the speed we need.

skill bonuses from items are default competence (same as the class gives).

Then we up it to a +5 bonus and spend the little extra cash and you get first level spells.

Also I could have polymorph any object as a Spell like Ability once per day with a casting time of 1d4 hours and material components costing 250 gold. Instead of 1st level spells.

Basically you get an ability every so many levels, with spells being one of them you start at 0 and work your way up, if you pick them every time you can have 5th level by level 20, but the number of spells you get each day = a wizard of your class level, as well as your caster level.

But one of the things you pick is a requirment for other class features gained at later levels so you would probably only end up with 4th level spells at 20.

Power Classes:alchemist by mongoose publishing if anyones interested.

All in all its pretty mediocre but I like to take off the wall things and work with them.
