I was just reminded of my friend's setting, where there is a literal God of Atrocities; every atrocity is a prayer to his name, and his mere presence brings out the worst parts of human nature.

He is also a pretty nice guy, who gets rather pissed off that all these people are doing these horrible things to each-other.

The same setting has a God of Unnoticed Things, who could slap you in the face without you noticing (you actually have to be pretty potent yourself to be able to interact with him; otherwise, he just slips your mind), and the God of Death is also the God of Birth (he attends all births; at birth, he takes your soul into his care, and at death, he releases it.)

What interesting gods and portfolios have you come up for for your settings?

A deity of Darkness that is both the deity of monsters that are hiding in the night, and the protector of sleeping people and those who are working at night. Both thieves and guards want the deities protection and blessing, but both for opposite reasons.

Another one is an ancient deity of life that constantly causes the spontaneous creation of new living beings from primitive microbes or old corpses. The main domain is that there is always new live coming into existance, but most of the time it's horrible nightmare monsters.

The god of runes. Not just runes as in writing, but runes were also magical spoken words and enchantments carved into magical staves for power. Rune magic is even good for giving birth, etcetera, and can nose into every other deity's portfolio.

The god of knowledge and ignorance - he knows everything, and yet he has that uncanny ability to have no idea what you're talking about, and - even though his clerics can choose any spell in the book to prepare - there is a 75% chance he forgot what spell you wanted and gave you a different one instead (wild magic).
