So what kind of cool uses can Veil be used for?

Veil
Illusion (Glamer)
Level: Brd 6, Sor/Wiz 6
Components: V, S
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Targets: One or more creatures, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart
Duration: Concentration + 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will negates; see text
Spell Resistance: Yes; see text

You instantly change the appearance of the subjects and then maintain that appearance for the spell’s duration. You can make the subjects appear to be anything you wish. The subjects look, feel, and smell just like the creatures the spell makes them resemble. Affected creatures resume their normal appearances if slain. You must succeed on a Disguise check to duplicate the appearance of a specific individual. This spell gives you a +10 bonus on the check.
Unwilling targets can negate the spell’s effect on them by making Will saves or with spell resistance. Those who interact with the subjects can attempt Will disbelief saves to see through the glamer, but spell resistance doesn’t help.

Can you f.x. use it to make someone invisible?

If invisibility isn't possible (which I don't know if it is), then would an alternative way be to make one appear as a tiny fly? (almost impossible to spot)... or even an Invisible Stalker?

Good questions. Mass Invisibility (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/invisibilityMass.htm) is a level higher and shorter duration, so I am inclined to say that Veil probably shouldn't make things invisible. Since it says you have to make them take on the appearance of specific things, you probably have to use the Invisible Stalker trick you mention, however. And then they appear to be Invisible Stalkers to non-visual senses.

Mass Invisibility does also work on creatures up to 180 feet apart, while this only works within 30 feet. But Veil doesn't say anything about it failing if they leave the range afterwards, while Mass Invisibility does.

Ultimately, I think Veil is probably the stronger spell despite being lower level. Weird, huh?

Veil doesn't make people invisible, but it does help them hide. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0584.html)
