(NB: I have a specific Request For Ideas, but I've made the thread title more generic so's it can be used to deal with other similar notions as well.)

To start the thread off, I'm trying to think of a new name for limited wish, which just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. A few minutes' work with a thesaurus hasn't turned up anything of particular interest ("whim" was the best one), and so I turn to the Intertubes for inspiration.

Ideas?

Minor Wish

...just a thought... sounds more impresive, but keeps it simple.

The Big Red Button
Will and Word
Wish Light
Diet Wish
Wish One: With Splenda!

Um... okay.

Minor Reality-Shaping Invocation?

8-ball's suggestion gave me an idea; what about changing the names of both spells, so that limited wish becomes just wish, and wish becomes greater wish? It'd be consistent with the other greater foobar spells.

wish is an iconic name though, it would be more likely the limited wish would become lesser wish, like how lesser geas is to geas/quest.

Just okay wish

To be honest, I don't like lesser geas either. :smallwink: The "greater" gimmick doesn't work there, though. Accursed annoying alliteration!

Shape Reality
Incarnate Will
Shift Reality

Though personally I like 'just okay wish'

Just Manifest Desire

"Manifest" explicitly refers to psionics. Sorry. And psionics already has Bend Reality and Reality Revision.

...Y'know, I've always thought "Reality Revision" wasn't a very good name for a power.

Sod's Law of Arcane Appellation: the more innocous the name of the spell, the more appallingly dangerous it actually is.

Presumably this also applies to psionics.

I'm a fan of 'Beg' and 'Diet Wish' myself hehe.... otherwise,
Fixed Wish?
Restricted Wish?
Precise Desire?

On the same topic of naming spells: when a PC (or NPC) in any of your campaigns creates a spell, any of you cats actually follow the non written rule of naming the spell after the creator? IE: Melissande's Flaming Goblet or Tempros' Glitterstorm as opposed to just Flaming Goblet and Glitterstorm? Just curious...

In any case, best of luck with the limited wish renaming ^_~

While not a cat, I do usually go with that approach.

One thing I like about "Diet Wish" is that it offers up a likely name for an intermediate-strength version: "Diet Wish with Lemon"

I'll stop talking now.

So we should rename Prestidigitation 'Diet Wish with Lime', then?

No, Prestidigitation should be renamed Caffeine-Free Diet Wish.

Every time you successfully cast diet wish with lemon, you receive one lemon in addition to whatever you wished for.

How about:

Lesser reality changing spell which must be worded with excruciating care to avoid smart aleck DM's doing nasty things to you

Seriously though, I have a DM that if I don't specific a rainstorm raining water, I'm liable to end up dodging cats, dogs, and cattle. He twisted one wish around so we went from fighting a Kobold, to a dragon.
