OK, get this. My no-account friends and I are prepping for RenFest this year, and the outfits are really cookin'. We've established that we're specifically going as D&D characters, so a) we're each incorporating 50' of rope into our outfits, b) considering the 10' pole, and c) creating these characters on paper to play. So far, so good.

One of my friends has decided to go as the bard. He's a really good guitarist and is bringing a travel-size guitar with him. He's dressing in a Shakespearian-like outfit with a big blonde wig. He's calling himself Edward von Halen.

The bastard.

He sees the character as a cross between his namesake and Diamond Dave. So ... how would you build a 6th level `80's rock-bard in 3.5? We're laughing out-loud alot, but have no idea how to realize him on paper.

P.S.: His arch nemisis in Samuel of Hagar, or Hagar the Horrible; "He stole my band!"

Bah, that's not D&D. That's Final Fantasy IV's spoony bard!

I always thought good examples of bards include Gurney Halleck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurney_Halleck) from Dune and General Chang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_%28Star_Trek%29) from Star Trek VI.

Anyway, carry on.
