class for common jobs (thought exersize)

Think about common/well know jobs. What do you think the class most likely (using fluff or features, doesn't matter) to have that job in a dnd 3.5 setting would be.

to start it off, I think most engineers would be artificers.

I'd think most of them would be commoners or experts, with the exception of used car salesmen being well optimized Diplomancers or bards who love Glibness.

An expert can fill practically any job, as they get to pick their class skills. Practically any modern-day job can be completed by an Expert, if they have the right class skills. However, any comparison we can make is inherently flawed, as we ARE comparing real life to a role playing game.

Expert is pretty much the go to class for random jobs.
