View Full Version : Nale: A beacon of tolerance, diversity, and equal opportunity, or a human hater?

So far, Nale has employed a demon, drow, devil, half-orc, half-elf, gnome, dwarf, and 3 kobolds. Compare this to the OOTS (3/6 human), Tarquin's party (4/6 human), the Order of the Scribble (3/6 human), Eugene's adventuring party (3/4 human), these (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0816.html) guys (3/4 human), and Roy's first adventuring party (4/5 human). The Thieves' Guild looks like it's mostly comprised of humans. The thing in War and XPs says Azure City only accepts people with human blood as citizens. There doesn't even seem to be any non-human slaves outside of the arena in the Empire of Blood.

With humans being so dominant, Nale must go out of his way not to hire them. Redcloak may have even found this anti-human/pro-"monster" quality (along with his family's natural Charisma score)...attractive:
:redcloak: I humbly suggest we scry on the leader. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0047.html)

Either that or Rich just wanted to make the Linear Guild colourful for aesthetic reasons.

I'll take option 3: the Linear Guild is a vehicle for lampooning other races that Rich couldn't fit into the Order.

Well of course Redcloak finds it attractive. Nale and Redcloak are the same character.

I don't think he's a human hater, because Nale seems to love himself, considering his ego, and he is a human as well. I'ma go with equal opportunity because he doesn't seem like the type to discriminate. :smallcool:

He hates indiscriminantly, huh?

On the off-chance this thread is meant seriously, I'd say he's equal-opportunity evil. The Western Continent in general seems to be a fairly racially tolerant place.

Well, he hated Malack too, and Malack isn't human. He was a lizardfolk, and then he was a vampire lizardfolk! That's two! I don't think he likes Belkar and Durkon much either, Halfling and Dwarf, and he doesn't take too kindly to that Kobold Kilkil either. Seems pretty indiscriminating to me. I might be missing a few.

Just keeping with the evil opposites theme. :smallwink:

I've noticed that evil adventuring groups tend to have more of a mix-match of classes, races, etc. . . I think people that prefer needlessly weird and wonky characters are drawn to evil parties and are just trying to be different but I doubt Rich is commenting on that.

I think Team Rocket/Magma/Aqua/Galactic/Plasma/Flare should take a hint from the LG and these evil adventuring groups.

Anything a human party member can do, Nale should be able to do, since he's also a human. Especially since Nale's class levels touch all three basic types of class (Fighter, Rogue, Sorcerer). Nale's build means he can do a little of everything.

But a specialist would do any one of them better.

Given how well Nale deals with being upstaged, outdone, or overshadowed, I imagine he can not abide a human member of the Linear Guild doing something better than him. Sabine, Zz'dtri, Thog, The Kobold Of The Week do not pose this problem.

I think they might also be V:

Redcloak has massive daddy issues?

And I doubt Nale would feel any sort of guilt over his brother's death.

His brother IS Elan.
