Hi all!

So i'm currently in my first PF campaign (Though I have some experience in 3.5 and slightly more in 4e) and we are running the Jade Regent Module all the way through.

Party currently consists of:
Half - Elf Ranger
Human Fighter
Goblin Druid
Tiefling Magus (though he has dropped out for RL reasons for an undisclosed amount of time)
Elf Wizard

The Ranger and Fighter are very experienced and are good meta gamers though they don't cheese.

The druid is intelligent but she loves RP more than picking optimal powers so she hasn't made any really optimal choices.

Now our DM is TRYING to challenge us, modifying and increasing the difficulty of encounters as he sees fit.

That's where I come in.
In order to survive the campaign I created Conjuration Wizard (Teleportation spec) to help increase odds of party survival.

I need some input from all of you on how best to optimize. I've read both Treantmonk's and Professor Q's God wizard guide but i'm just trying to get as much information as possible to help me decide. If you have any unusual/fun/rare/or unmentioned tactics/feats/powers/combos/etc please feel free to mention them here.

I especially need advice on what metamagic feat to grab at lvl 5 (i think i'll grab augment summoning as my normal feat), Which two 3rd lvl spells to grab (leaning towards mad monkeys, SM:3, Haste, Aqueous Orb....can't narrow it down.) and what other items I should be grabbing!

Thanks in advance!!!!
Currently lvl 4 after starting at lvl 1.

Stats(rolled really well)

STR 9
DEX 17
CON 13
INT 20
WIS 15
CHA 13

init:11 (dex mod +reactionary, fleet-footed, imp init.)

Skills: Appraise(12), Fly(7), ALL knowledge skills between 9 and 12, linguistics (10), Perception (5), spellcraft (12), UMD(3)

Feats. 1. Scribe Scroll
1.Imp Init
3.Spell Focus (conj)

Spells:
Lvl 1(prot from evil, Grease, Mage Armor, SM:1, Mount, Color Spray,Silent Image,Enlarge Person, Feather Fall, Charm person)

LVL 2 (Glitterdust, Web, Invis, Create Pit, SM:2)

I have a BUNCH of utility scrolls prepared including a couple not on my spell list that we have found.

Items of note: Pearl of Power lvl 1, Lesser Metamagic Rod(Extend), +1 Cloak of Resistance, Haramaki, A +1 Kusarigama that lets me summon a giant wasp if i keep spinning it as a standard action, 5 rds max (was really useful when i was running out of spells), Wand of scorching ray.

you can also take an item creation feat. I'd suggest craft rod or craft wonderous item.

Instead of a meta-magic feat?

As soon as possible gain Dazing Spell metamagic (errr I think that's the name)... It is fantastically delicious.

I was looking for Dazing spell as my 10th lvl meta magic, as i feel 3 spell slots higher is a little rough at lvl 5.

Should I reconsider?

Dazing Spell Magic Missile as a level 4 spell. So wait until you get a normal feat... Level 7? You can end encounters with that spell... Like ending the boss... Your fighter friends will beat the crap out of him and love it.

Any Advice on what to grab for my lvl 5 meta magic feat?

5th level is probably a bit early for most of the heavy hitting metamagics, most of the ones you can realistically use are +1 spell level and probably arent worth spending a feat on, the rarely relevant yet occasionally vital metamagics like still and silence are probably best provided by lesser metamagic rods (ran a conjurer wizard in my last game, teleport subschool is a good pick, should really up your survival chances). consider a silence metamagic rod, a few ranks in stealth and run around invisible while summoning beasties. for the 5th level feat you have a couple of good choices, Craft wondrous item is a great choice as has been mentioned (though im not familiar with that module so subtly check with your DM if their will be enough downtime to make crafting viable). Aside from that it depends on what kind of wizard you want to make? God/Control wizards benefit from high save DC's and conjuration has some of the best spells for that (consider SM3 and Stinking Cloud for your first level 3's?) so greater spell focus wouldnt be a bad option. Dazing Spell is unbelievably awesome but level 7 when you have access to 4th level spells is the earliest point at which it becomes viable. if worried about survivability/ DM wants to challenge you be sure to pick up some solid defense spells Mirror Image is a brilliant staple.

The only Metamagic feat i can think of that would be useful when you only have level 3 spells is energy substitution, but that's definitely a feat for a blaster build (and curse pathfinder for giving it a +1 level adjustment as opposed to +0!)

Oh and im being an idiot if you want to consider a metamagic you should look at Extend spell, as long as you plan on doing plenty of buffing at least !

Why not take spell mastery? That feat can be a life saver.

Also having silent spell can get fun after hitting your pet rock with the silence spell.

Still spell can save your life.

Toppling spell is another nice feat to use in conjunction with Magic Missile. Up to 5 trip attempts per spell, all at Caster Level + Caster Stat instead of CMB? Seems ok to me

Toppling Spell + Magic Missile is pretty fun.
Hit multiple targets, each target takes damage and is possibly tripped.
+1 Spell level, so you could be doing 2nd level Magic Missiles, which hurt AND knockdown. Fun times.
However, Toppling Spell might be better as a Rod rather than as a feat. Your milage may vary.

Instead of a meta-magic feat?

yes, wizard bonus feats can be meta-magic or item creation.

at your level, as a wizard, I would take: craft wondrous item, craft arms/armor, or extend spell

Perfect, thank you Blyte and everyone else for the advice!

absolutely

just remember to buff the melees and let them get the kill count!

..that is, until you get quicken rods and staff like wand, and start to melt everything..

I'd take Craft Magic Arms and Armor. The melee will love you, but it will also be the greatest increase in party effectiveness per feat slot.

For spells, Fly is a game-changer and Haste is one of the best buffs out there. Later, I'd grab Fireball (because you need at least a little blasting), Major Image, SM III, Suggestion, and Slow.

If it's allowed in Pathfinder Cloudy Conjuration is a good complement to your summons and can be taken as a specialist bonus feat.

Doesn't look there's anything on your spell list targeting Fort?

ear piercing scream is a good low level mage killer, targetting fort
