So as the title might indicate, I am taking part in a Drow Campaign.

Okay, so the title didn't say that at all. However, I am TAKING Abyssal Specialist, because multiple threads and people and things told me that Specialists are good, and the amount of spells granted by this specialization for the single banned school (thinking evocation tbh) outweighs it. My DM is being nice (I think?) and said that if I can come up with a reasonable conversion of Abyssal Specialist into Master Specialist that he would allow it.

Thus, here I am, hoping that one of you either has done this already, and is willing to share; or you somehow know, and are willing to share, or hell, that you are just willing to make it up...

I thought about this myself, but the base is already absurd. How do you do Spell Focus(Abyssal) without just being flat out OP from the start?

If somebody could/would help, much appreciated!

Thanks.

PS: I am trying to avoid uber-cheese, he allowed four (4) flaws, I already feel bad.... especially since Abyssal includes Chaos, and resisting urge to do Dark Chaos shuffle on my (three) martial proficiency feats..

Spell Focus can't pick Abyssal. It has to be one of the eight specific schools. That said, you can use the Abyssal Heritor feats to be a walking Pearl of Power.

That would be pretty broken... and fun! Thanks.

However, my point wasn't the school focus; it was how to create (or if somebody already created) balanced (close to current balance I guess?) requirements and errata so that one could use Master Specialist on your Abyssal Specialty.

Take a look at the Demonbinder PrC in Drow of the Underdark, and crib some ideas from it.

Well for a build you could go for Wizard 10/ Master Specialist 10. The 10th level of Wizard is for the Planar Wizard ACF (Planar Handbook page 36) which combos quite nicely with Abyssal Specialist.

Will check out Demonbinder in more detail; if anybody else has PrC's or just classes that especially tie to Abyssal anything, that would help the design process.

I heard that one before... it is quite interesting.

I wonder now, reading the entry for Abyssal..

"You gain all the standard benefits of specialization
as applied to this group of spells, as though it were a school
unto itself."

The Spell Focus entry...

"Choose a school of magic, such as illusion. Your spells of that school are more potent than normal."

Now, unless I misread this, it basically says that Abyssal IS a school; Spell Focus only requires a school... Of course, you can just take a level in the Planar, make all your spells Chaotic for example, take Spell Focus(Chaotic)..
