Enlarge Person, Greater
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: One creature
Duration: 1 min/lvl

Description

Increases target's size by two categories, so a human would become huge, a halfling would become large, and an ogre would become gargantuan. This spell functions as Enlarge Person, except modified in the following ways:
Strength gain from size is +4.
Dexterity penalty from size is -4.
Armor Class penalty from size is -2.
Attack Roll penalty is -2.

So, what to think about this spell? My first thought is the target. It should be limited to humanoids. Aside that, you guys think it's ok?

If we use expansion as a precedent, it should be 4th level. But between that and +8 to grapple as an immediate action using gloves of titan's grip, psionics gives +16 to grapple whereas in core you can't get more than +4. It's nutso. A psychic warrior grappler can grapple 80 foot long purple worms like alligators. In terms of stats going up in size is almost break even. It's the grapple, tripping and reach that really matter. You should mention the space and reach of a huge creature like the original: 15 feet and 15 feet.

Assuming you allow psionics and a little bit of power creep, it's fine at 4th level. It should apply only to humanoids or gargantuan creatures could do crazy things with it. True, expansion affects any race, but at least it has a personal range. Crazy races becoming psychic warriors must pay LA & RHD, which delays the 2 size category and swift action expansions. And a humanoid target imitates the regular enlarge person. I'd also allow it to be made permanent with a permanency spell, at the cost of 2,000 xp.
