I was thinking today, can spellbooks be enhanced as a weapon or shield? I got to looking at the various enhancements for shields and thought a +2 animated bashing defending spellbook with spell storing would be pretty cool. Is there anything that's already out there that is essentially weapon/armor enhancement for spellbooks(homebrew or otherwise) or will I have to work something out by myself? I also wonder if that would be too over powered or something to that effect.

Thanks in advance for any input, Sam:smallbiggrin:

Depends on whether your DM rules that a book is an improvised weapon. If you can find a masterwork improvised weapon that is book-like in nature, then there's no reason it can't be enchanted according to RAW. But it sounds more like a DM question than anything else.

Using your spellbook as a shield is just asking to have it sundered imo.
If you want to do it anyway you'll have to get your DM to houserule it. I see no reason why he wouldn't, it's not like you get any benefit from it over using a shield.

Make it from Riverrind first. Then sundering isn't a concern.
