This week we are covering the comic strips 101 through 110.

Not a big fan of the first Xykon battle. I found the Linear Guild fight better in terms of both comedy and tension. Anyway, I like the whole joke in #104, but the Laundry Night punchline beats it.

I think this might be the first strip where Rich knew what MitD is.

Actually, I choose 110. It's funnier than 103.

107 Defense is for Losers - I suppose this is the funniest of the bunch, although it's still so clear to me how much the comic has progressed since then.

For me, there can only be one choice out of these: #103: Practice Makes Perfect. One of the funniest strips in the comic IMO because of the awesome back-and-forth between Xykon and the MitD. The nutmeg line just kills me.

MITD makes a strong case. The splash page of Xykon's throne room is underwhelming, in my opinion. 101 is good--Elan shows just how ruthless he can be. 102 was funny too, but really just a one-off joke. And Laundry Night was excellent. There were a lot of good ones in this batch.

I think, though, I have to go with 110. Not only is it hilarious, it's story-related. If Elan kept acting like he did in 101, I might go for that one, but as it is, :xykon: wins this one.

Wow, there are a lot of great strips to choose from! These strips (and the next few after) form the climax of "DCF", and I'd love to vote for all of them, but since I can pick only one, I'll pick

It's funny, #105 felt so epic when it first aired but now it seems rather quaint when compared with the great battle scenes we've had since. I'll agree with the current majority and vote for #110.

As I read through these, I thought this was going to be a hard one. MitD's speeches in 103 are fearsome, Xykon's reverse psychology in 106 is awesome, Vaarsuvius and Belkar's argument in 107 is funny, and the moment between Haley and Elan in 109 is sweet.

But 110 beats them all. It's a great moment for Xykon, it's the beginning of one of Roy's pet peeves, and, most importantly, it's the first Order of the Stick strip I've ever read.

Hmm, I hate going with the crowd, but I'm going to have to vote for #110: Revenge is Best Served Really Cold. It has both better humor and better drama than most of the other strips in this bunch.

Gosh, some of these comics were just not funny or realistic at all. But on the other hand, there were some brilliant gems that cannot be ignored.

I love 107. Truly a highlight of the tensions that exist in the team, while highlighting the importance of the way it needs to function. Plus, V's failed bluff always cracks me up. I love this comic.

And 110 is damn spectacular too. I love Xykon here, the way he just so coldly picks up Roy's backstory, kicks it until it cries aimlessly, and throws whatever dust is left to the wind. It's less about hating his evil and loving Roy's anger get the better of him. Otherwise it'd be just too out of taste for me.


BUT... like the winner of the 1-100 Best of Hundreds, #102 is just pure gold. Roy does indeed have boobies, because it sure is not the testosterone making him uptight. Or have enough cleavage to knock down even the undead. Yikes, that really IS something. Something funny. :smallbiggrin:

Yup. I hate to vote against 103, but the Belkar emotional moment (and Roy's courage) have always made 105 a favorite of mine.

Another week, another coinflip. 110's great, but not quite as good as Roy has Boobies. Heh. The Belkar/Elan dynamic of the early strips is one of the things from the early strips that I miss. Still, those weren't in the final two for me. It's down to Belkar wanting to do something in combat and the MitD yearning for nutmeg. This time I think it must be 107. Way too many great lines from both V and Belkar for it not to be.
