Maybe I missed a big to-do (I've been off the forums for a VERY VERY long time), but it struck me today reading the comic thread that we're rapidly approaching the 10 year anniversary of The Order of the Stick!

How do you plan to celebrate? I'm thinking of ordering a full set of the minis and reading the comic front to back.

There was a thread some time ago about this. IIRC it's in september.

I'm not quite sure, though.

September 25, actually. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7333)

Not that I was around here at the time. I just went to the list of thread pages, and hit "last". The last thread was this, the first thread!

On that note, how cool would it have been to be around at this time? It seems the Giant knew the name of everyone (or almost everyone) on the forum. Interaction by the author with his fans is one of the factors, I believe, which makes this strip so enormously popular (aside from its quality, of course)

A friend of mine and I have a fanart project planned for the anniversary - which we should probably be getting started on, the date is fast approaching.

Ordering the full set of minis sounds tempting, too, if I can gather the funds ...

The third reply of that thread suggests the online comic started on September 29th

Man, reading through that thread is great. Look how cheerful everyone was :-)

I'll post a note both sentimental and paternalistic in tone, reminiscing about how I found the strip through word of mouth and updated the home page nearly every single day since then hoping for the next installment, then firmly remind Mr. Giant that world-class writing talent is not to be squandered and that I expect even greater things from him in the future. :miko:

Haha,, the final post of that first thread

On another note, this thread is so long it's annoying to load. I think I'm going to start a new one every month from now on.

And the policy never needed to be updated again :smalltongue:

I'm liking post #33 in The Very First Thread

Man, I could easily envision these in Dragon magazine

Well, kudos to the Grey Watcher, still posting after all this time!

And it was cool to read the origin of the ambiguity of V's sex. Now, when did the first alignment debate break out.... ??

It seems he posted something on the 25th, and then a link to the strip on the 29th. I'll guess that he posted the cast page on the 25th, then the first story strip a few days later.

GiantITP back then was just a handful of people. It was more like a loose group of friends than a normal internet community.

Yes, I heard someone else mention this, too. So for anyone planning something for the anniversary, please note it is the 29th, not the 25th.

On another note, September 29th is my birthday as well. Cash is nice, and gift cards to any major retailer are also acceptable.
