So, recently, my character (a paladin) fell before his foes (though i did bring down over 200 of those bastards, so...) i have decided to continue in my tier and create another meat-shield. i decided to make a fighter instead of another paladin because my DM has taken to calling him his "Free Plot Hook".

so, i have two fighters ready (sans story info) and i thought the playground could help me decide, and tell me if i can improve them without breaching our unspoken gentlemens agreement (Don't be like the monk in Gamers 2)

a Finesse based spiked chain wielding forest elf fighter (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=634112)

Or

a Strength and Constitution based Dwarf axe and Shield Fighter (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=634099)

I notice the feats are all PHB - are there any other sources available? Are the stats set in stone, or can you move those around?

If you can move your Wis to Int for the Elf fighter and pick up improved trip you could do a fairly nice tripper build with the spiked chain. Otherwise I'd probably go for the dwarf but drop the shield/animate it as quickly as possible for those juicy two handed power attacks.

Core only, judging by your feat choices, fighters aren't as strong as many other classes but can be fairly fun to play but bar RP stuff from races and fighting style they don't differ too much and it looks like you're choosing between what should be an obvious tripper and a straight up bash your face in with an axe fighter and depending on your foes they wont be noticeably far apart powerwise.
