Hello there! In order to run a certain game off steam, I need to install what's indicated up-here. My computor has recently been completely formatted, which explains why I need to re-install the basic stuff.

However, not only my Windows Update stubbornly refuses to operate (no idea why!!!), any manual install of DotNet Framework 4.0 had left me dead in the water. I have already tried a few things on forums here and there, and coming to this forum is one of my last resort (bringing the computor back to the helpdesk is the last resort).

I have a Toshiba, running on Windows 7. I know I have a valid Windows 7 key, and the guys who installed Windows 7 are supposed to know that (since it's written UNDER the computor).

Here is the error log:

Hi there. I am trying to download the system Update Readiness Tool (?) located here. (http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=20858)

But everytime I try to download the 380 mb file, my download just stops around 168-171 MB. It tells me it still downloads, but I've left it for half an hour and it still is locked in position.

Anyone else is having that problem?

No - the download seemed kind of slow, but worked.

Ok, so Windows Updater is failing to install .Net 4.0. I'd suggest one of two things:
A) Delete the folder C:\ee376f1b73ef730c90246bd514a264, this will force windows updater to redownload the update. If the file is corrupted, windows will keep trying to install the same bad file, and fail every time. So it needs to go.
B) Just download .Net from the internet. Microsoft has the downloads available on their site.

Regardless I'd delete C:\ee376f1b73ef730c90246bd514a264 when you're done because that a really UGLY folder in C:\. I dislike that part of windows update, junks up your file system.....
