Description:
These appear to be well-made lacy silken pants of the kind a noble would wear on a special occasion. They appear to be made for a <race>* <man/woman>* about <size>*.
* - will vary depending upon who the current/last owner was.
Type: Clothing
Special abilities:
Custom Fit (Ex): The pants will automatically mold themselves to fit their current owner as soon as they are held the first time. This effect is permanent until a new owner is chosen.
Blinding Light (Su): Emits a glowing light from the entire surface based upon the darkness of the area, including magical darkness, up to a maximum range of 120'. This effect is automatic as long as the pants have been charged up, which can be done under sunlight or casting of a light spell upon the pants, which will automatically be absorbed by them.
One hour of sunlight allows the effect to last for 15 minutes at 10', with each additional hour increasing the time and range by the same amount (up to a maximum of 120'). As the effect wears down, the range will decrease. One light spell is equal to four hours of sunlight for the purposes of charging.
Shining within Darkness (Su): This is a command ability ability activated by the phrase, "Shine pants and clear away the darkness!". Normally the pants will simply counteract a darkness spell, but this allows them not only cancel the spell, but start shining a light as per the items Light description, except the use of energy is doubled. The ability can be deactived by saying the phrase, "Stop! I'm blinded by the light!"
Continual Bonding (Ex): Once a person touches these pants they are bound to that person, unless previously bound, until that person wears it fully charged and active where atleast 50 people can see her, atleast 20% of whom know her well for atleast one hour without being embarrassed.
If the pants are destroyed by any means, they will reappear at the owner's feat when they wake up the next morning, folded and clean as though nothing happened. Any charges in them will be lost.
Backstory:
Once their lived a wealthy man who had trouble seeing in the dark, not unlike so many people in this world. However, he thought he was unique in this way.
He had often used lamps, candles, lanterns and even some magical sun-rods and other devices, but these objects required him to devote a free hand to carry them around with or bring one of his servants along. The first often wore his arm out after a period of time, something inexcusable for a man of his stature while the other one required calling a servant from a task and bringing them along everywhere, even when he wanted some privacy.
He had gone to several mages and requested a device to light up the darkness for him at night, but they all demanded obscene (in his opinion) amounts of cash. Nothing he couldn't pay, but more than he thought he should.
Finally he heard about a mad wizard in the remote countryside who would take almost any request. While, he was reluctant, the wealthy man had little choice if he was to get an item he desired and so he set off to see this mad wizard and beseech him for aid.
Completely unexpectantly, the wizard agreed and at an extremely low price of only a pair of the wealthy man's pants. Seeing such a cheap price, he readily agreed and about a week later the wizard showed up at the man's house with mansion handing him the pair of pants he had given him back.
The wealthy man wasn't happy at first, thinking the mad wizard had not done anything, until one day when they were brought back inside after they had hung out to dry by a servant a faint glowing light appeared in the pile of clothing. As the servant moved into a darker part of the mansion, the light grew bolder until overcome with curiosity they searched the belongings and lifted up a pair of glowing pants.
When the wealthy man learned of this he was stunned into silence and sent off for the mad wizard to do something about the pants as they were quite embarrassing to a man of his stature. Alas, the wizard had disappeared and he was stuck with them. He attempted numerous times to dispose of them and destroy them, but they would always return, fresh and new, neatly folded upon his bed, each morning eventually leading him to go insane.
