Playable Monster Compilation

Does anyone have, or know of a list for 3.5 of playable monster or monster like races?

i want my players to pick from something other than the usual basic races. they are going to be the bad guys this time. so i need something with a bit more punch.

they will be mostly taking monsterous HD and such.

any where i can start researching?
