Looking for some quick advice, lets say you have this:

1rhd /4wizard /1 mage of arcane order

so 5th level casting level 6 in an e6 world(the RHD is of little concern atm)

The character in question is a focused specialist conjurer, with enchant, necro, and evo banned, and an Int of 17 as well as the immediate magic teleport 10 feet in exchange for the familiar variant.

Now for the question at hand, the character is focused on versatility for the moment and has such taken a few feats to help him adjust to the present situation at hand.

He has uncanny forethought, alacritous cogitation, and his open slots from mage of the arcane order.

Which slots should he leave open for each? From the feat as written it seems to me that the uncanny forethought slots need to be picked in advance. I am also under the impression that the focused slots must be prepared and cannot be used for said leaving opens.

I was thinking of leaving my solo 3rd open for alacritious cogitation, one second and one first for mage of the arcane order, and one second, and either two firsts or one first and one zero for uncanny forethought.

Any reason I should do this differently?

Keep in mind that with only a caster level of 5 I cannot use level 3 spells for mage of the arcane order, and I am not sure if practiced spellcaster is worth it in this case for only a +1, maybe in the long run down the road.

I had a 10th level wizard prepare all his spells with magic missile once. :smallcool:

He fell into a 500 ft pit and died because my DM was a jerk who taught me to memorize feather fall in his games.

He was firing all his magic missiles on the way down though, just like the Emperor in Star Wars.

Why do you have a racial hit die along with focused specialist? Those sound like a bad idea together. Only being able to cast 1 non-conjuration 3rd level spell per day is pretty harsh.

In E6, feats are a river, so you can take a few extra slot feats.

Not sure why you have that one racial HD, unless you're a Lycanthrope with a 1 HD base animal. Any other creature with only one RHD replaces it with their first class level. What race are you using?

Have you considered starting out middle age for -1 to physical stats and +1 to mental stats, to get Int 18?

Your plan for what spell slots to leave open looks solid, I'd definitely leave one 0-level slot just in case you need to cast Mending or Stick or Silent Portal, etc.

Well the my original plan was to play a 2 hit die pseudodragon but since it has a +3 la I would only be able to use a 10 point buy, however after stumbling across

I am hoping I can use it instead. So I guess technically it isn't a racial hit die, but it might as well be.

That was I can have a 32 point buy and get myself 8/16/16/16/10/8 to start with instead. Boosting Int to 17 at 4 to qualify for uncanny forethought.

I hope he was at least prestige classed into force missile mage. Also thats when you say something like I pull out my quarterstaff and hold it cross ways the hole causing it to stick in place and hold me at my present position. Or the very least I pull my dagger and jab the side of the wall to try and slow/stop my descent.
