Damage progression Scale - Answered

Hi, I know this might be a silly question, in fact I'm sure it is. But what is the scale for increasing damage potential?
Ie, 1d6, 1d8, 2d4?

So basically, the scale of progression is based on what the max number is. considering to that table, 2d4=1d8. hmm, Ok thank you all!
