I know their is a ACF for them that they give up the various rages, and gain rangers improved combat styles for the bow, and favored enemies.

Has anyone done any research on this specific aspect, and the build possbilities?

It's terrible. Play a Whirling Frenzy barbarian instead and pick up a bow.

I am in agreement on that point. Alternatively, look into ferocity from the Cityscape web enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a). It trades out the constitution bump for a dexterity bump, which is neat for archery. You take a penalty on attacks from over 30 feet away though. I generally prefer frenzy, but y'know, options.

Mabye use an Elvencraft bow so that you can smack those who try to sneak up on you... possibly go into Frenzied Berserker and be a Deathless Frenzied Artillery... and eventually get your bow the Force and Splitting enchantment.
