Dear Giant,
You are so talented a writer that even your palms are likely to be an interesting read  I had to join the forum just to thank you. You are doing great work when a reader actually feels gratitude at the end of an installment!

I love how consistently well rounded your characters are. You step so far beyond the traditional constraints that 'motivate' characters in other series that I am simply awed. I normally dislike fantasy themed stories because many characters, particularly the villains, lack realistic motivations or behaviors. Your characters are so 'Rich' :smallamused:.

Two characters that particularly stand out for me are Tarquin and Malack.
These are independent characters that simply are. You show and do not tell; characters act in their own interest, and are likable for their well-roundedness and not for the sake of clichéd scenes to create affability.

Watching the #913 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299693) interaction between Nale and Tarquin was such a rare treat. Tarquin truly loves his children and his friends, in his own way. Malack was a very similar in his sincere (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0895.html)attempts to parlay (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0872.html)with Durkon. Your characters are undeniably human and embody realistic complexity. Nale's desperate desire for independence and meaning, juxtaposed with the pragmatic love of the ruthless, but magnanimous, Tarquin. (Business before pleasure, and love only those that you can). An antagonist that can kill his own, not out of greed or hatred or vengeance, but through perfectly cool pragmatism is something that only a scant few could envision or would comprehend.

Such excellent pragmatism, it warms my heart to see characters with reasoning that evokes reminiscence.

Nale never really had a chance; his behaviour makes a lot more sense to me. I was seriously crushed by Malack's death (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0906.html), yet this exchange made me respect Nale's hardship.

I just want to give a big thank you for the endless entertainment. How many authors can entertain as well as stimulate the minds of others? I love seeing your mind at work, through your work. (Additionally, I cannot wait to own this particular installment:smallsmile:)

-------------
If there are any scenes that left a resounding impression upon you, please, describe them here, link the comic, then gush your appreciation for our Giant:smallsmile:

Oh God, not again.
:smallconfused:???
I'm just saying thank you... I like all of the characters he creates because they are usually quite realistic. Roy, Shojo, Tsukiko, Redcloak, even Xykon pretty darn fascinating.
The Giant is a great writer. I don't even play Dungeons and Dragons and I've fallen in love with his writing. I'm actually willing to look up the rules online to better grasp some of the jokes in the comic. :D

I think he's referring to the many "thanks for the good work Rich" that have been posted lately. However, as an author of one of those threads myself, I think an author would be happy to know his work is so pleasing to his fans
