As the title really, how does magic-psionic transparency apply to familiars and psicrystals?

For example: Wizard 10/Psion 10. Could these levels stack to advance either a psicrystal or familiar, or would these have to remain separate entirely for a familiar and a psicrystal?

Feats are not transparent. It doesn't stack like that.

The rule for magic-psionics transparency explicitly states every sub-rule that it actually does. Treating familiars as psicrystals or vice-versa is not listed in those sub-rules, so no, they don't stack.

In addition to the above responses, psicrystal abilities are based "on your levels in psionic classes" not your manifester level. So tricks like Mental Pinnacle won't work to advance your psicrystal either.

Sadly, because powers are not spells, and spells not powers, you can't even use the "share spells/powers" feature of a familiar/psicrystal to share powers/spells with them, respectively. :(

This is all unfortunate, but I guessed as much. Well, perhaps theres a feat out there that allows stacking, if not… time to make it.

You might be able to make a case that the Magic Mantle's granted power does so, but it would be a stretch, I think.

You can get Share Spells on a psicrystal, if you're high enough level: Manifest Greater Metamorphosis and share it, then have the psicrystal turn into some sort of symbiote and attach to you, and then you can share spells using the symbiote's ability (which is actually superior to the familiar's, since it doesn't say the spells end if you move apart).

Sharing powers with a familiar, though, I'm not sure. Maybe you could Shapechange your familiar into a psicrystal? They do have a monster listing. But would your familiar turned into a psicrystal be counted as "your psicrystal"?

Sure, but since the benefits of a psicrystal are keyed to the feat, you'd have a shiny animate rock who provided no additional benefits.

A magic mantle'd ardent or erudote would be able to stack them, but only on the Psicrystal side, but that is more down to how terribly written the Magic Mantle is rather than any real ruling.

Soo….

Magic Mantled Ardent or Erudite/Shadowcaster

Magic Mantle + Psicrystal Affinity + Shadow Familiar= manifester levels stack with shadowcaster levels for advancing the Psicrystal, which gains the dark creature template?

Throw in the Elemental Envoy feat, they would have a Dark Elemental Steward? (Dark Arctine, Dark Emberling, Dark Geodite, or Dark Tempestan)
