The problem ive run into is this: Thri-Kreen and medium armor...

While I realize it is unusual and more costly as per the normal rules, what does it do to that lovely 40 ft. movement speed? all books dealing with Thri-kreen and armor fail to mention this. Does it reduce it by 10 ft.? 15 ft.? no answers...

anyone have any idea?

What happens if i want to Armor my Horse or Riding Raptor? they move at 50 ft., does it reduce them by 15 ft.? 20 ft.? No answers...

Its a mighty thing to overlook...

Medium or heavy armor reduces your speed to the closest 5' increment to 2/3rds your full speed. Someone with move 60' in heavy armor moves 40'. Your exemplary thri-kreen moves 25' (40*2/3), and an armored horse moves 30' (50*2/3).

where does it state that, or is it an assumption?

A creature with light encumbrance suffers no reduction in speed.

A creature with medium encumbrance suffers a reduction of roughly one third of its base speed. These reduced speeds are shown on Table 8-3 in the Player's Handbook and on page 20 of the Dungeon Master's Guide.

A creature with heavy encumbrance suffers a reduction of roughly one third of its base speed, just as with medium encumbrance.

...which is 40*2/3, rounded up. Which is weird, because you round down for everything in D&D.

lol, D&D loves to contradict itself from time to time. It happens. So in the case of armor, im gonna round up.
