Hiya folks. I'm almost to the point where I can pick up Leadership. Already grabbed Improved Familiar. So I'm trying to decide what exactly to take for my friends. Right now, we've got a decent spread of party members -- rogue, guy in shiny armor, person with bow, a couple spell-slingers, so we aren't lacking for anything in particular. We don't have a cleric, however, so I'm leaning that way right now.
For my familiar, I'm looking at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/angel/angel-cassisian
It can fly, it has hands, it can understand any language spoken, decent SLA, maybe even take the valet archetype on it. Any thoughts one way or the other?

For my cohort, as I mentioned, cleric looks nice. I don't particularly need a meatshield at this point. Bard might be funny for IC reasons mostly. The cleric though, would be handy in battle, and could take some craft feats to make rods/wands. I have a lot less experience with cohorts though, so suggestions or comments are appreciated.

A Cassisian doesn't have hands—It's a helmet.

A Lyrakien (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/azata/azata-lyrakien) is what you're looking for, but you need to be chaotic good to have one.

The Faerie Dragon (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/dragons/dragon-faerie) is pretty sweet (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=555715). It can be taken if you are Chaotic Good, Neutral Good or Chaotic Neutral. It is fairly intelligent, can fly, has the perks of a dragon type Pokemon creature, casts a few cantrips and 1st level spell including the ever useful Grease, has a nice Perception score in case you dumped yours and has telepathy 100 ft. a.k.a. universal silent translator and fantasy TacNet for your group.

The Faerie Dragon also has the added benefit of being able to use all magic items based on sor/wiz spells without an UMD. But it's a colorful gay happy dragon, not a hot tiny chick. :smallwink:

(I'm waiting for Bestiary 4 to see if there's a tiny tentacled old one you can acquire as a familiar. )

As far as cohorts go, is your GM allowing you to design the cohort or just choose the preferred class?

It can change shape into a child-sized humanoid, as well as a dove, dog, or fish. Though, according to the flavor text, it prefers not to.

Well by that notion, it's no different than any other familiar that you cast alter self on.
