Several times today when I've opened various tabs on GitP, I got a warning from Avast that a certain URL is malicious:

Reloading a few tabs seems to indicate that it is in this thread. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298127&page=5)

While I'm not getting any warnings myself, that URL is for Goosefeather (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/member.php?u=53199)'s avatar.

This happens occasionally when somebody hosts their avatar on a site that has problems. Your antivirus will pick up the fact that the avatar is hosted on said site, and whether or not it's actually an issue (I'm not a computer guy so I don't know) it'll report the entire page as malicious.

Goosefeather's avatar appears broken at the moment, though, so something must've happened.

Well, for starters, they're direct linking someone else's image and stealing their bandwith. Oh, and that image could be replaced at any time (which appears to have happened), possibly even with hardcore porn, just to screw with direct linking.

what seems to have occurred in this instance is that the page in question, when you go to the homepage, is CLEARLY a scam site of some sort. I don't know how they found that image, but they could not have picked a worse site to link to.

Goosefeather, if you pop into this thread, just upload an image to IMGur or something. Don't direct link to random things you found using Google Image Search. It's stealing people's bandwith, intellectual property, and results in this or worse situations.

Unless that's Goosefeather's own page, of course.
Please don't throw accusations around needlessly.

Actually, it looks like the domain expired and was grabbed by a domain squatter.

So perhaps somebody should alert him to the issue, and let him resolve it however he needs to...

Oops, yeah, my bad. Avatar changed, and my apologies for any issues caused.
