Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 131 through 140.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on September 8th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g68/Cats_Are_Aliens/Banners/Hiram_zps9c7e54c3.png 122 - Adventurers Are Coming! Adventurers Are Coming! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0122.html) did in fact show up to claim the prize. Who will end up winning this week? Only you can decide that.

Let's build a campfire and tell stories about who will win.....

Man, so many good ones here. This is a tough choice.

I'm going to have to go with 132: Kindred Spirits just because it's pretty much flawless, the extended absurdism is terrific and the punchline is amazing. Plus, it's always interesting to see Belkar playing the straight man for a change. But I'll be happy no matter which comic wins.

This is the best batch so far, it's extremely difficult to pick one :smallfrown:

132 and 138 are awesome, and 140 should get it just for the title and last panel  Seriously, any of these would get my vote in, say, most of the previous six-seven rounds.

But #136 truly shines and gets my vote.

131 is perfectly done in my opinion.

I'll go with 135 I guess, because V dealing with idiots is just a little bit more funny than the others dealing with idiots.

I vote 131 That ransom-note is one of the first signs that Haley isn't just goofing around :smallcool:
Closely followed by 135 "V shopping potions" and 136 "Roy cheese-shopping weapons", also 140 "Belkar unleashes the Fury"

36 gets honorable mention, but I have to go with 131. Plot and characterization will always trump the jokes for me.

#136 - Because it's not a winner until somebody quotes Monty Python.

I will have to go with 131 this time, for plot and development.

137, because I like both Banjo and Odin.

I want to choose 140 just because I'm a total brony, but that's a really stupid reason, so...

131. Haley needed the character development. I liked Durkon's teasing reaction, too.

131 the plot thickens ( about 600 strips later, but still)

140 is very nice... a lol every time with "unleash the fury!"
i love also 134 "I hate side quest"

but 131 gets my vote. A long story planning, it is.

131 - Honestly? Because I didn't want 136 to win, since I didn't find it very funny. 131 seems to be the main contestant, and it's a reasonable comic that gives the viewers some insight to Haley's character.

While Belkar in the Barbarian Guild is really great and Banjo is my favourite God/Hand puppet, 135 Potionomics has secured my vote.

A lot of good ones...
Cabaret reference in 131,
A hilarious exchange in 132,
A soon-to-be-out-of-buisness store...

I wasn't wild about 136, because it didn't really add anything to the original skit.

Ultimately, I'm going to go with 139, partly due to the joke it sets up with Belkar, and partly because it is one of the first signs of Elan thinking intelligently.

Gortok the Destroyer for the win ! #132

Gil-Galad II

Man...I like 132, 135, 137, 138 and 140 a lot, but don't love any of them enough to definitely choose. Ultimately, though, I reckon I have to unleash the fury of 140...Gortok the Destroyer and V going shopping being close seconds.

Tough call. 131 has a great bit of character development, while the last three are really funny. But I gotta go with 131. 139 comes second.

135, because 131 doesn' really seem to have much plot effect and it's funnier than 132 or 136 (which is also great).

Hmm. Some good ones this time around. For me, its between 132, 135, 136, and 140.

In the end, Gortok the Destroyer wins it in my mind. 132 it is.

135, because 131 doesn' really seem to have much plot effect

Really? I was under the impression that 131 had the biggest effect on the plot out of any of them:smallconfused:

131 has to get my vote, considering the current arc. It was also a very well executed and, at the time, rather unexpected piece of character development.

132 for me, as it's the funniest of the bunch

Lots of good ones, so it might just depend on my mood at the time which one is slightly favored over the rest. I think I'll go for some classic Belkar action today. 132 it is.

And without further ado...

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:haley: 131 - Money Makes the World Go Round (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0131.html) is the winner this week! It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
