So, my players have expressed interest in wanting to play a campaign where they're dragons. I'm game, I'm just trying to decide the best way to balance it.

I'm thinking of something E6 like, maybe E16? 10 levels of a generic dragon race class, and then 6 levels of a normal class (or a prestige class, if they're so inclined). Once they've reached 16, then bonus feats (though given the level, I'm inclined to increase the amount of experience required).

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Any experience with the E6-style at a level like this?

I really don't know why you'd want to E6 a dragon campaign. That just doesn't sound like it would work.

That said, I think it would be really neat to play a dragon. It's a shame that's made so difficult in 3.5... I wish they had been able to do a better job at creating good Savage Species style progressions for more monsters.

If you wish to run something in a dragon-based Campaign, I would suggest Against E6 and that you look at these.

Alternatively, you could play it a bit more free-form where they don't take classes or level up, but instead start in one age category and progress through thousands of years of time?
