When i was attending elementary school in Burma, they used to premiere an old japanese (60s- 70s estimate). No, it's not Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X).
- The protagonist is a child samurai and his master/friend is an umbrella maker.
- Most of the enemy had basket helmets like these (http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs51/f/2009/267/b/f/L5R_Sohei_by_Stravag.jpg).
- His sidekick include a toddler.
- One episode had a woman who had wolf companions
before they were all slaughtered by the demon.
Does anybody know what anime is it?

Not that but I remembered him wearing samurai armor with blue shirt underneath it.
Last time I heard his name was "Akato" or something similiar.
Please tell me that I haven't watched an obscure anime :smalleek:.

Not these two,
But I think it could be 80s anime too.
The villains are wearing basket hats like these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komus%C5%8D).

I vaguely remember of a manga I've red long time ago, with a "puppet mute samurai". I can't find it's name... he was a samurai boy who died and an "artist" resurrected him as a mechanical puppet with self-coscience. I remember a fight against some monk with those mask... but was like a passing thing, not "regular villains".

I will dig a little bit more in anime of that period...

I found the manga you were looking for, Kurogane.
I tried to search for this as well and came across this thread.
