Extreme Shield (RoS) gets you +3 AC sans attack penalty. No cover, though.

there's one, Im not sure of the name but it has a short sword attached to it and can cause slashing and peircing damage while doubling as a shield.

Spiked shield...

Other than that, I usually just make large steel shields, but give the exotic looks ... like bugbears with thick steel molded into skulls and skeletons and such.

Or are you looking for a shield with an attached repeating crossbow? May e one that doubles as a long spear? A shield you can throw like a frisbee that detonates into a fireball?

The Kappa Shield is 3.0, but IIRC it might transfer to 3.5, it gives +10 AC and is wielded on the back. It also gives a 3.0 version of cover when used prone. Basically it's a huge shell which you wear on your back like a turtle.

I know what my next character will be abusing using!

I've always wanted to use a Gnomish Battle Cloak. it's not necessarily effective but it's cool.

The Buckler Beatle: This buckler is actually a Tiny
scarab beetle that latches onto the forearm. You must
wear the beetle for a full day before the beetle buckler
confers any bonus to Armor Class. Once it’s attuned to
its wearer, the beetle buckler is effectively a masterwork
buckler with a nonmagical +1 enhancement
bonus to Armor Class.
With a command word, you can detach the beetle.
Then the beetle takes wing, darting around your
body and blocking ranged attacks (as the Deflect
Arrows feat, but using the beetle’s Reflex save bonus,
not your own). The beetle cannot be ordered to
attack, but it defends itself if attacked.
dBeetle Buckler: CR 1/2; Tiny vermin; HD 1d8; hp
4; Init +6; Spd 10 ft., fly 40 ft. (good); AC 24 (touch
18, flat-footed 18); Atk –3 melee (1d3–5, bite);
Face/Reach 2 1/2 ft. by 2 1/2 ft./0 ft.; SQ Deflect
arrows, vermin traits; AL N; SV Fort +2, Ref +6, Will
+0; Str 1, Dex 23, Con 10, Int —, Wis 10, Cha 2.
Skills and Feats: Hide +14, Listen +4, Move Silently
+10, Spot +4.
Deflect Arrows (Ex): When detached from its
shield position, a beetle buckler darts about in its
owner’s space, blocking one ranged attack per round
as the Deflect Arrows feat.
Vermin Traits: Immune to all mind-influencing
effects; darkvision 60 ft.

sounds great but is the hp an issue when it is buzzing around being shot at?

A Sloth Domain Cleric doesn't take penalties from being prone, IIRC. :smallamused:
