The latest strip brutally sends home the fact that a villain like Tarquin is not, was never going to be cavalry for the Order.

A corollary to that would be that the IFCC is not going to be cavalry for the Order against Tarquin.

No, it looks like Tarquin's trying to be the Bolivian Army for the OotS. :smallannoyed:

Nothing precludes the IFCC from trying to convince V to get further in debt to them by letting her and Blackwing return to their bodies early... though there will probably be interest to compound, fees and other ways to get more and more time. But that's to be expected from a trio of Archfiends, and even if they offered to make a deal with V, there's no way she'll bite. Once burned, twice shy. What's surprising is that anyone thought Tarquin's gifts wouldn't have strings attached as well. Tarquin has no reason to let Roy walk away alive; he's just as guilty of speaking to Tarquin as an equal as Ian, he has troublesome notions about morals, and he's proved himself a competent Fighter and leader. Tarquin is convinced the whole comic is about him, so why shouldn't he order his archers to fill the main protagonist with crossbow bolts?

While Tarquin is not playing to the best of the IFCC's interests here (weakening one side too much would dimisish the destructiveness of the Conflict), they are not under that much pressure to act since the Azurites are already on their way to Kraagor's and part of the OOTS (Elan, Haley and V) are to survive. Thus provinding conflict.

Imo, it has alway been clear that, even when he was "helping" the Order, he was doing it only for his personal gain.

I wouldn't count on fiends anyway, for help... :smallwink:

That became obvious after Tarquin decided to go after the gate himself, joining the LG rounds after sending the Order on their way. ^^;

Invertely, the IFCC might have more interest in that regard as the order defeat to that point might put a stop to the conflict for the Gates. Tarquin has no interest in going after Xykon and even if some over band of adventurers were going to take up the torch, they might not have an elf still indebted to them.

But then again, will the IFCC actually do anything to prevent that ? I won't hold my breath. My guess is that they'll just wait for V's time with them runs out, then send her back to her body and see if she can save enough of her teammates. After all, that bout still qualify as "unecessary conflict", right ? :p

Does V actually know what's going on the crater right now? Sabine broke (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0914.html)the blood plasma screen, remember. V is bound and gagged and, unless the IFCC scries on the crater or something, V only knows that Nale is dead.

In order to unfuriate V, to the point that s(he) actually does once more that fatal error s(he) did last time with the contract with the devil/daemon/demon, I guess the IFCC really would have to convince V that his/her friend were about to be wiped out.
