Rest of Tarquin's team?

Im wondering why the rest of Tarquin's team (specifically, the Psion right now) is just standing around calmly while he forecasts his end? I mean, if Elan deposes him now or later, thats hardly going to end well for the rest of his associates...and he seems to be welcoming his demise.

Right now, Elan isn't working against the team; he's all bark and no bite. Tarquin is throwing some minor resources at him to help him dispose of an unknown villain who might be a long term threat. So the team comes out ahead.

Once Elan starts focusing on toppling the team's empire the team is going to expect Tarquin to kill, subvert, or neutralize his offspring, although they'll probably grant him reasonable discretion on the "how" in light of their friendship.

As long as Tarquin does his job it doesn't matter is he views this as an epic hero vs villain showdown or doesn't find the idea of losing to be untenable.

He's probably already had this discussion with his team - Malack certainly seems to have had some discussions with Tarquin about the issue. If he's been able to get a team of evil adventurers to hold their egos in check enough to make themselves the powers behind the thrones, they probably also know about his 'exit strategy' of enjoying the ride while it lasts, and hoping for a legendary end.
