Is there any RAW reason why Alchemical items affected by Animate Objects /Minor Servitor couldn't utilize their own properties?

Is there any RAW determination as to how bound together two things must be before they're both affected by the same casting of Animate Objects/Minor Servitor?

For example, animating a chest of drawers wouldn't animate a single panel of wood or a single nail.
But tying two panels of wood together with twine might not be enough to count them as a single object whereas skillfully weaving them together with fine wire might.

Eh. If the "object" is connected/tied together/whatever firmly enough that its own motion wouldn't cause it to fall apart, go ahead and animate it as one object. Tie two pieces of wood together with a rope so it can "walk" on its wooden "legs?" It's one object, sure.

The mechanics for Animated Objects mostly care about the object's size. It also has some "if it is shaped right, it gets this special ability," which you can engineer, sure. The spell for creating them also only cares about the object's size.

Animating a single tied-together object rather than (say) three individual objects just determines whether it's limited by the size of the bound object or the number of individual objects. The "individual object" option makes more of them with one casting. The "single object" option makes one larger construct.

Let the caster choose.
