If you take damage while the share pain power is up and the person you are sharing pain with has damage reduction does the damage reduction apply to the damage they would take if it would normally apply if they had been the only target?

For example if I take 10 points of damage from a melee attack and the person I am sharing pain with had DR5/- would I take 5 points and they take 0 points of damage?

No the damage bypasses DR.

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#damageReduction

A creature with this special quality ignores damage from most weapons and natural attacks. Wounds heal immediately, or the weapon bounces off harmlessly (in either case, the opponent knows the attack was ineffective). The creature takes normal damage from energy attacks (even nonmagical ones), spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities. A certain kind of weapon can sometimes damage the creature normally, as noted below.

Bolded the important section. The spell is dealing the damage so it bypasses DR.

Also its not quite stated that its empathetic damage but there is a precedent for other similar powers to ignore DR as well.

As Silva said, DR does not affect the damage from Share Pain. Hardness, however, does.
