as title, i'm looking for good templates that let you turn your awful rhd into awesome rhd.. by becoming a dragon or an outsider (preferably a dragon) for next to no cost.

Any Template (ex. Necropolitan) that makes you undead chenges your HD to d12, but you lose Con.

Kobold-specific feat, so while it does change type, it probably doesn't fit the OP's intent.

Incarnate Construct is -2 LA and it changes your type from construct to humanoid or giant depending on your size. You can't get lower then that.

And Dustform is +2 LA and makes things into constructs. You also get some stat boosts and a crippling allergy to bludgeoning, but you can reset the type pyramid.

Do note that Incarnate Construct strips you of SAs and SQs, so you keep very little.
