Humble Giant
When Reshar founded the temple of the Ninefold Lotus, he founded it on the belief that any creature, regardless of race, ideology, and religion, could find their own way and master their own martial art. Enter the Humble Giant, Papa Giru-Girumesh, the Gentle, Half-Ogre.
When Papa Giru-Girumesh appeared at the temple he was in the chains of a man who wished to enroll his son in the temple. When Reshar saw Papa, he approached him and asked him why he did not break his chains and escape. In response he stated that he was "afraid of hurting people". In response to this Reshar offered to teach the man's son free of charge in exchange for Papa's freedom and the man released him. After many years of training Papa and the man's son both excelled in the sublime ways, but it was clear that Papa, in his simplistic gentility, was the more superior of the two. One day, the man's son's room in the temple was vandalized, his food stolen and sword broken. Immediately he accused Papa and demanded Reshar that he pay for his misbehavior. Reshar simply grinned and stated "Justice is performed best by the victim" and declared that Papa and the man's son would duel each other. Papa was frightened, having never gotten over his fear of hurting others. On the eve of the duel, Reshar approached Papa and taught him that those that seek destruction, will always find it.
When the time for the duel began, the man's son struck violently against Papa and Papa, merely avoided his blows (despite his massive size). Eventually the man's son in a fit of rage grabbed one of Papa's closest friends, a little girl orphaned by war living in the table and demanded that he stand and fight. Papa reacted violently against the man and began to use his full strength against him, charging at him in a fit of rage and splitting the son in half.
When Papa recomposed himself, he nearly drowning in tears at the son's death. He picked up his body and pieces and abandoned the temple for all time. It is said, that Reshar created a discipline to symbolize the devotion to peace and love that Papa possessed for all living things, but also capture the violence that one can summon upon themselves when harming a loved one.
