Now I want to be clear I don't mean assasin spells, but I mean spell progression and whatever spells would fit the flavor of the PRC.

Do you think slapping such onto less popular PRC's would save them and make them more of an option for players?

Eh, depends on the class, really. Sometimes it just won't fit the flavor.

Probably, though it might be easier to give them 8/10 or 3/5 "+1 level of existing class features" like the Uncanny Trickster or Legacy Champion (or "+1 level of existing non-spellcasting class features" to prevent ridiculous things like Hellfire Warlock supercheese and making noncaster classes into essentially caster classes).

Which prestige classes in particular did you want to upgrade? Because while I of course acknowledge that spells are king in D&D, there are times where it's more thematically appropriate to give a class some other kind of boon.
