When Dwarfs fly

I have a character concept in mind of an angry Dwarf screaming bloody murder as he sits back on a flying mount of some description hitting mooks with a hammer.

I'm not looking for an uber mount build or a ridiculously high powered charger but considering the sheer number of obscure prestiges that gives a flying mount I could do with some help making a halfway decent build that could actually contribute to a party.

Ideally payoff around level 6, no ToB, Savage Species or flaws, oh and bonus points for the mount stacking with Paladin levels.

AFB at the moment, but the Dragonnel in the Draconomicon can be a paladin mount with the right feat. I think it flies.

AFB as well, but I think I remember one called an agaroren griffin rider, although I believe it required 10 ranks of ride. I'll see later if I can't find anything closer to what you want. It stacks with paladin mount, however.

Great Rift Skyguard from Races of Faerun? Not stacking with Paladin Mount but it ticks off all other boxes you supplied

There's always 1 level in beastmaster to wt a Hippogriff or a Pegasus or something. Take more levels to get a wyvern which is always cool an more magx beast companions.

Just have him ride a tusked terror from MM5. Those things have a monster jump and a base speed of 80'. Between it being able to take 10 on a jump check to get a 50 and it having spring attack you get a flying pig without wings.

Fighter 1/Wizard 4/Runesmith 5/Knight Phantom 10

Be a ghostly dwarf with glowing red eyes wearing full plate covered in stone runes, charging down on enemies from atop a Phantom Steed.

As an aside, I now have When Doves Cry stuck in my head, except replaced with "When Dwarves Fly."

EDIT: Level 6 would mean Fighter 1/Wizard 4/Runesmith 1, so you'd be a pretty solid defensive wizard who could cast in full plate. You could cast Phantom Steed, but it wouldn't be able to fly yet. The flying mount aspect unfortunately won't kick in for several levels.

Just get a gryphon, you can't get much more awesome then that, and you can buy them with money, so they are far cheaper then having to take as a class feature.

DMG page 204: a 6th level paladin can use a hippogriff or dire bat as a mount. Giant eagles, owls, and pegasi at 7th level, and the mighty griffon at 8th.

No obscure prestige classes required.

Could go as a Female Dwarf, go Berronar Valkyrie, and ride a pegasus into combat with another class. Then every time you come into combat, play Ride of the Valkyries.
