View Full Version : Halloween Costume Ideas?

Well, the spookiest time of the year is getting pretty close.

So that means the stress and rush of putting together a costume.

For my idea, I wanted to be a Dungeon Master for Halloween: in a hooded wizard's robe, magic jewelry as well as a D20 amulet. And maybe even a crystal ball.

But I'm not so sure about that idea, and I'm not sure what to dress up as, or if I should dress up at all.

So, what are your ideas for a Halloween costume?

And any good suggestions?

I don't celebrate Halloween here in Germany, but I always thought that Dr. Doofenshmirtz' alien costume (from a Phineas and Ferb episode) would be great for a costume party (and not too hard to do-it-yourself). Funny and scary.

If you have some female friends who can help out, drag can be fun.
I went as a Calaca doll one year.
I've had a few superhero idea, but no one wants to see this body in spandex.

Other then the d20, which probably wouldn't even stand out that much, I don't think you would come across as a DM instead of a wizard.

My youngest brother usually does some interesting things for Halloween but I almost never do anything. If I bother at all I just put on an SCA costume and call it good.

Maybe your local geek store could get one of those foam d20's?
And instead of stars on your cloak and robe, have cutouts in the shape of a d20.

I usually go as a bard;
panpipes(if I had a lute, I'd probably carry one of those instead, but I figure the panpipes are close-ish and at least allow me to play a short tune if I want to*), green shirt, khaki vest, a belt of linked metal medallion thingies, green slacks, fancy-looking boots, leather sword scabbard

*panpipes are, for some reason, the only instrument I've ever managed to learn to play.. not sure why

I think this year I'm gonna go as Flame Princess or Fionna the human, depending on what type of wig I can get quicker/cheaper.

Well, I keep wanting to do ghost nappa before it becomes completely irrelevant, but I don't know if I'll have a Vegeta to torment. Also, I really don't want to shave my head and I kind of dread bald caps.

Also the armor, too late to get cracking on that. So I suppose that ship has just sailed forever after this halloween.

I've got a banana suit thought. And some lab coats. A couple of robes and vampire capes. I believe last year I wore the banana suit with a vampire cape, though I sadly didn't have any fangs to go with it.

I might go as a Scotch Banana or Banana Wizard.

Some of my friends and me will most likely be going as a (slightly more covered) version of this:

And that's why you don't let Feegles find your Smurfs. :smalleek:

I might do something adventure time related. Maybe BMO?

I'm having a similar problem figuring out a Comic Con costume idea. I've been told I can pull off the Scout's look really well, but I'm not really part of the TF2 community. I do have a failed tye-die experiment resulting in a light-red stained labcoat, though.

It's a pretty easy thing to do, but biker for me - with a twist!
I'll be going as an orc :thog: I'm pretty close to their size seeing as I'm 6'4" (6'6" in boots), I've got tusks (Dental Distortions razorback), and the skin colors pretty easy

For a second the first sentence made me think you were talking about a biker orc.
Admittedly, Shadowrun has proven that it's a viable look

I am talking about a biker orc - the twist to the biker is being an orc as well. Never played Shadowrun but I've heard of it and can see why you'd think that though :smalltongue:

I regularly go as a Weeping Angel. Gray thermal pajamas + extensive gray facepaint + gray wings (white fairy wings bought at goodwill, paper-machied and painted) + gray wig makes a pretty good and easy costume for cheap. I'm planning on adding teeth (the vampire kind that are all over at Halloween) and gray gloves with nails affixed this year; a gray blouse/skirt over the pajamas would also improve the look, but has so far proven difficult to find used.

Creepy creepy creepy weeping angel, costume, Moriwen. :smalleek:

Last year I went as a Class III Zombie Outbreak Survivor (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/mwellenstein/Photos/Costumes/ZombieOutbreakSurvivorMax_zpsd66d2fb2.jpg).
A few years ago I went as Valhallen, the Viking God of Rock (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/mwellenstein/Photos/Costumes/ValHalenMax_zps10d36eba.jpg) (from the Dexter's Lab Justice Pals (http://dexterslab.wikia.com/wiki/Valhallen))

This year I'd LOVE to have done the planning to do a couples costume with my wife as Raleigh and Mako from Pacific Rim (http://www.driving.ca/cms/binary/8678398.jpg?size=620x400). But I didn't. So now I'm trying to think of a good couple's costume that isn't just 'us as zombies'.

I wanted to go as a weeping Angel, but my girlfriend pointed out that it would require a lot of make-up and money to put it together...

The last two years I went as Edward Elric, and as the Phantom of the Opera. I still have both costumes lying around in case I decide to re-use either of them. The intention this year is to go as Doc Brown, though.

Must practice the phrase: GREAT SCOTT!

Well it seems you're sticking with the time traveling show/movie theme :smalltongue:

Indeed. I'd still like to do the Weeping Angel thing, but while here people might find it funny that my Angel avatar turns Weeping, it's less amusing outside the Playground...

I'm considering going as a door with the porch light on and handing out candy to random people. Might be difficult to pull off though...

Hmm. I'll have to doublecheck what would be necessary for a Jon Snow, come to think of it, since I had been recently told that I'd make a good Jon Snow.

Always good. I think you might be able to find some DIYs for how to set that up if you manage to get your search terms right. Depending upon how much manpower you can get to help, you could just have a couple of mates holding a mock doorframe instead of having to haul around a whole door.

Really? I always thought Whovians were supposed to have good senses of humor about references to their fandom. :smallconfused:

Here it's a combination of Doctor Who references with a reference to my own avatar. Out there it's just a Doctor Who reference.

A long time ago I once considered wearing a suit and getting a prop cigarette so I could be Rod Serling and narrate the actions of everyone around me as if they were "about to enter...the Twilight Zone." My dad suggested that I paint my face white and dye my hair black to get the black and white look. I never ended up doing any of this, though.

I'm going with plan "Let's see how creative I can get by mostly using stuff I either have already or can borrow"

Main Idea (Link):
*Green dress (Either need to borrow one or be that guy at Goodwill)
**Alternatively, a green skirt with a green shirt might work
*Belt
*Newspaper/cardboard weaponry
*Green pillowcase repurposed as a hat
*Snow boots

Fallback idea:
Dark jeans + dark T-shirt + coat liner I use as a jacket = The 9th Doctor
