I want an air ship for my malconvoker. I want it to:

1. Fly moderately well.

2. Plane shift.

3. Not having to be constantly controlling it. (Want to do planar binding on it)

4. Be sufficiently awesome.

Note: im in a dragon dominant campaign if that helps

Make one out if imps. Thousands of them, strung together like a raft.

Page 73 of the Planar Handbook has the Gate Zeppelin, which can gate itself 1/day

Yes but my dm will send hitmen at me if I summon too much of one thing.

Too pricey. I'm looking for something smaller.

What outsiders would operate this?

Here's a method I've always wanted to try:

Find somebody with a high Wisdom but fewer than 9 HD.
Turn them into a spell-stitched necropolitan, with Plane Shift as one of the selected SLAs.
Build a ship that is mostly large canvas sails with a small wooden ship inside.
Haunt Shift the undead to haunt your ship. Instruct it to use its new animate objects ability to animate the ship, gaining it a Fly speed (per the entry on Animated Objects, "A sheetlike object can fly (clumsy maneuverability) at half its normal speed.").

So now you have an intelligent, sentient flying ship with several SLAs, including Plane Shift.

I am definitely recommending this to my groups resident necromancer.
