Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 151 through 160.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on September 22nd, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :redcloak: 149 - Cultural Differences (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0149.html) said it was the winner, and no one else felt like challenging the claim. Who will end up winning this week? Only you can decide that.

Some like to call it "team building exercises", I call it "A bunch of playgrounders getting together" to vote for...

I'm going with 153: Priorities. A landmark strip in Roy's character development, which is far and away my favorite aspect of this story arc.

This is a very good batch, but I'm going to go with 160. There are some good character interactions there.

Yep, make mine 153 also.

Not the most memorable batch for me, unfortunately. 157 is good, but I gotta go 155...partly for Blackwing's disappearance the moment V forgets about him, and partly for the last few panels. Also, I really like the morphine quote, for some reason.

A good set, and just about any of them would beat out several of our previous batches, but I think I will go with 151.

153. It's nice to see that everyone in the Order except Roy genuinely likes Elan, and it's meaningful for the strip to show that the other members of the group - who Roy had to argue, cajole, and lie into coming on his sidequest - are all willing to risk their lives to rescue Elan.

It's buildup towards Haley's latter comment of [paraphrased] "Maybe the reason I always needed an economic reason to go along with your objectives was because they were all about you." Roy's evolution from a guy dragging a team along on his mission to fulfill his father's Blood Oath into a real team leader who does things because they're Good is one of the major character arcs of the second book, and one I enjoy.

153, for Belkar's reasons to go save Elan.

151, no doubt about it. Mostly set-ups, but some nice laughs along the way. And it feels kinda weird to think of Roy abandoning Elan...

Whenever voting time comes around, and I have to figure out what strip is the best, the same thing happens. I read a strip or two, trying to make mental notes of which ones I like so I can narrow it down. However, every single time, I get so engrossed in the story that I forget what I'm doing and find myself like 15 strips later wondering "Why am I reading these again?"

I think I'm going to have to vote for 153, simply because Roy compares Elan to Syphilis. How mean!

Now I just can't wait until next week so I can vote for "It's because Samantha is younger and has a higher Charisma score than she does!"

Wow, another toughie. I'm torn between 153 (because of the importance for Roy's character development), 155 (because it showcases the dysfunctional relationship between V and Blackwing, years before it was fully explored) and 159 (because it's like a wacky Norman Lear sit-com!).

I'm going with 153. It's the beginning of a major turning point for Roy's character, and remains relevant throughout Book Two (and into Book Four).

No one else likes #158? Am I really the only person here who finds economics hilarious?

153: Priorities - While 157 was funny, 153 is ultimately much more important for Roy's character development.

154 because it makes me laugh every time I read it.

Ah, so many good ones!

151, 154, and 155 were all close, but in the end I went with 157. Belkar setting a tent on fire was priceless.

While I agree that 153 on Roy&Elan is important storywise,
I still vote 151 "Good advice"
closely followed by 155 "Later that evening"

I'm a fan of 158. I don't know if I consider it especially hilarious, but I think it was the best strip, overall, of these 10.

Hard choice - for me there is no strip really standing out.

So after thinking about it, I'm going for 151 Learning Experience. It's just nice to see that the Order is willing to help some fellow wannabe-adventurers ;)

Lot of them are around the same level of quality, but 151 just barely edges out the rest I think.

And so.....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:haley: 151 - Learning Experience (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0151.html) is the winner this week! It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
