Discount Familiar

Without diving headfirst into the fondue pot, I'm looking for a way to create or obtain a sentient item familiar r a third level Dukblade I'm building. It will be used mostly for fluff, so it dosent need to have insane sla's or anything of the sort. I prefferebly would like a greatsword, but a long sword would do as well, it needs to CE, and assume we're using the wbl chart for gold purposes, with no other equipment puchased or obtained yet. Thanks in advance Playgrounders, you guys are the best!

1. Buy a +1 greatsword. At level 3 you should be able to afford this.

2. Take Item Familiar.

The problem with this is, if I read the entry correctly, it won't gain the level of sentience I want until at least level ten. I meant to say intelligent item familiar in the op, not sentient item familiar, which is the source of the gold problem.
