First off the template I will be using is this one: http://www.realmshelps.net/monsters/templates/greenbound.shtml

This template would work perfectly for an idea I've had for quite some time, of a chatacter gotten from a comic series called Bones.

The Greenbound Creature template fits very well with the fluff of the character being completely plant based and elven/fey with druid abilities/power.

Yet there's a very important problem and that is its level adjustment of +8, this is make it impossible for it to be used as a starting party level of one. One thing I've heard about those is that of buying off level adjustment or somehow lowering it.

If anyone can give me any information on this mechanic I'd be most grateful and perhaps even additional ideas on how to make the template work. If need be I can also see about getting the beginning level of the party to be higher but likely no higher than level 5 or 6.
-------------------------

One thing that could possibly be done looking through it is to cut the abilities and skill increases in half, that would help. Honestly that part doesn't much matter.

Actually perhaps cutting in half a lot of the increases would help.

Why be Greenbound yourself when you can summon greenbound Nature's ally?

For fluff reasons mainly of wanting a fully plant-based race that is elven/fey. I'm not so much interested in having an overpowered character and I'm actually consider the feat that would allow me to have greenbound summons.

The way I look at it I have a few choices, either make a new race or to use the template Greenbound or Woodling in some way.

Actually... I'm going to reread up on the Woodling template, I wonder way I forgot about it.

There are the Volodni, which are plants and PC's. They are much easier to stomach with +2LA and 1 RHD.

Hmm, a bit more... aggressive than what I'm looking for but it should be workable. I may need to ask if I can go with a different backstory for the race, though that shouldn't be too much trouble.

One thing though is it doesn't seem to says that if its race is plant (humanoid) or if simply humanoid with plant traits.

It is a plant type, IIRC.

If you're willing, would you be able to help me workout the greenbound to be weaker and perhaps give a name change) so that it is more PC friendly? Perhaps PM.

There's a "Plant Companion" variant in Dragon Magazine #357 pages 90-91 that may interest you. It replaces your animal companion with a customizable upgradable plant companion.

... yes well it seems that the greenbound is not qualified for this game mechanic, as it only applies for +6 or lower level adjustments.
Yeah I think I'm going to decrease its power by quite a bit, go with a Woodling, or go to race it was suggested.

Maybe Killoren (http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Killoren) from RotW?

Maybe use Woodling (MM3) instead? Not nearly so overpowered, and LA +3.
