Playgrounders, your opinions please!

While this post is partly a plug for the game I'm writing and about to kickstarter: Orbis Terrarum (lots of tasters here (https://www.facebook.com/Orbis.RPGame?fref=ts) if you're interested), I do have a genuine question too:

In our game, we have four major magic systems, each using different rules but interacting with the same underlying physics of the world (and with each other). The "laws of magic" and how they work is a big part of the game. My question is this:

All the magic systems have the capacity to have new "spells"/effects created by PCs. How detailed would you, as readers and users of RPG books, want the rules for designing new magical effects to be?

For example... one of our systems is pretty pure "vancian magic", so would you like detailed rules for creating new spells (a detailed equation of say, "X damage + Y range = Z cost"), or would you rather we said "here are some guidelines, just eyeball it based on existing effects"???

Are expansive rules in this area worth it... bearing in mind that we coud fill those pages with other, "cooler" stuff (magic items, new daemons, etc).

Thanks in advance.... Also, did I mention the shameless pug (https://www.facebook.com/Orbis.RPGame?fref=ts)?

It needs to be comprehensive enough to prevent abuse but minimalistic enough to allow creative effects. How you choose to implement that is up to you, but those are the two things that I feel a spell creation system needs. (The Practical Enchanter did the first part of this fairly well)
